Though there were unexpected twists and turns, I embraced my journey through life. Through building my career as a REALTOR® for over 30 years, I discovered a key lesson.
Dallas is my home and real estate is a core part of who I am. Although, if you had told me that before I began my career over 30 years ago, I might have been a little surprised.
One of my old marketing lines read, “from chromosomes to selling homes.” When I was younger, I planned on having a career in genetics and studied that field in college. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and genetics, I decided it was the perfect time to begin my career as a licensed REALTOR®. I had always had an interest in real estate, and it gave me a new avenue to utilize my psychology degree to help others.
At the time I began my real estate career, I still in lived South Africa.A few years later, in 1991 I moved to Dallas with my wife, and we started putting down roots. We came here to be near family and decided this was the best place to raise our children. From the start, we embraced this open and friendly community.
Having a front row seat to the development and diversity here in Dallas has been astounding. As a REALTOR®, I have enjoyed playing a small part in helping this community grow. Dallas is my home.
This has been the most amazing place to raise a family and though our two boys are grown now, we still enjoy the life we have built here. The community and relationships we have formed are central to who we are, and I could not be prouder of my boys. It has been a wonder for me and my wife, Peta, to watch them grow up to be the successful young people they are. What matters most in their success to me is the kindness they have shown others, and that they genuinely try to do the right thing.
Life takes us on journeys, but it rarely lets us choose where we begin. While we always begin where we are, we get to set our own destinations and the routes we want to take. Of course, unexpected detours happen along the way. However, I have enjoyed all the twists and turns that have gotten me to where I am today including the more challenging moments. While I may not have known what my future had in store when I was planning my first route all those years ago, I am happy with the pathI have taken and all the destinations I stopped at along the way.
I never let bumps in the road stop me because there are always alternate avenues. Whether in real estate or life, I always look for the resolution of any obstacle. Sometimes in transactions, mountains may appear. However, I never let those unexpected terrains stop my clients from reaching their goals because I know there is always a solution waiting to be discovered.
Real estate is the only career I have ever had, and I have enjoyed it through all the ups and downs. I plan to continue supporting my clients as their agent for as long as they give me the honor and I can still walk upstairs.
Whenever I am not working, I enjoy gardening, traveling, hiking, and watching TV. My favorite part of being a REALTOR®is the moment the signatures are all on the contract when my client and I have completed their goal.
As your REALTOR®, I will be here from start to finish guiding you throughout the process. I will leave the big decisions up to you because only you know the best fit for your lifestyle. I will keep you informed throughout the process, providing as much information as possible. I will be completely straightforward with you so that there are no surprises.
Throughout my decades as a REALTOR®, I have seen the market through ups and downs and learned how to overcome any roadblocks that may arise. With my years of experience here in Dallas, I have had a front row seat to the market trends and diverse communities. It does not matter to me if you buy today, tomorrow or 10 months from now–I am not here just to close a transaction. My purpose is to help you get where you want to be. Once the transaction is done, I will continue to help you achieve your goals as your lifelong REALTOR®.
Sincerely,
Gary Silansky
